Untapped Revenue: Employer Assisted Tuition Reimbursement
If you’re heading back to school make sure you plan a stop by your employer’s benefits department to determine whether or not they offer tuition reimbursement or other learning incentives. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics over 50 of companies with 100 employees offer some type of tuition assistance in their benefits package, and according to IRS regulations this can be up to 5,250 per year (tax free). Many companies will pay 100 of the costs associated with a degree plan if linked directly to the line of employment needs, but some will even reimburse for personal interest courses. The bottom line is it’s up to you to ask and then chart some plans to not only take advantage of the financial offering, but take advantage of how it will benefit you personally as well!
